Fifth Stretch Goal Met!

Thank you al so much for your enthusiasm and generosity! We can't wait to share the genre cards with you along with the rest of the deck and the book. They're going to be really neat and Amber is working hard on making them amazing. 

I've started on the research for this historical part of the book. Not surprisingly, there is not a great body of existing research on the topic. That being said, there is enough to do a pretty decent job of it and so I'm excited to do that as well. 

Next up are hardcover books! I hope we reach this stretch goal because hardcovers are the best. 

As a reminder, don't forget that you will be able to select one genre card through Backerkit and there will be an option to purchase all nine of them. Additionally, don't forget that since we smashed through our initial goal, we are including the pdf of the book with every level $20 and up.

Even More Stretch Goals!

Now that we’ve passed our fourth stretch goal, it’s time to talk fifth and sixth stretch goals! Woot!

Since we’ve smashed all the previous stretch goals, the next stretch goal is to introduce genre cards at $20,000 and print more decks. These will not be part of the actual Tarot deck, but will feature similar designs. There will be 9 genre cards in total, representing the following genres: Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror, Romance, Mystery, Thriller, Western, Historical, and Drama. Their purpose will be to represent the genre in which you are writing and help focus your thoughts as you work on your story through the spreads.

As a backer, you will be given the option to select one as your choice for free in the survey once we send it out after the conclusion of the Kickstarter. You may also choose to purchase the entire set through Backerkit as part of the survey as well.

After that, by $26,000, we will set the next stretch goal of printing even more decks and by then we will have enough to print the book as a hardcover. This means we’ll be using a different Print on Demand company than Createspace (since Createspace only does trade paperbacks), but we will have the same level of distribution and it will not affect you getting your books. Plus I have a soft spot for hardcovers and I think they will hold up better to use than the trade paperbacks, making them a longer-lasting and more durable resource for you in the years to come.

Fourth Stretch Goal Met and More to Come!

We have officially smashed our fourth stretch goal and I'm extremely excited about this because it means I can do research! Hooray! Thank you all so much for getting us this far. We are really honored that you have chosen to take this journey with us and we can't wait to share this deck with you.

Expect the book to include not only an explanation of this deck, a how-to for using the deck, but also a short history of tarot from a historical perspective. Note that this will be a history only and will lean less toward the spiritual traditions that use Tarot simply because I don't particularly want to step on anyone's particular paths when it comes to using the Tarot and I've found that histories that delve too deeply into the mystical traditions of the Tarot tend to skew toward a particular path, preventing inclusion of all paths. 

I'm almost done editing/uploading the video for the Celtic Cross spread (for the $14k stretch goal), so expect to see that tonight. 

We're finalizing details on the next stretch goals, so expect to see those soon as well!

Third Stretch Goal Met and Second Video Ready!

Wow, we hit our third stretch goal today, which means more decks and a website! Thank you all so very much for your support and generosity!

In order to answer some questions we've received, we are using Backerkit as our survey and fulfillment service. This means that, yes, you will be able to purchase more decks and books after the Kickstarter is complete through the fulfillment process. 

For those who missed the first video, it's in a backer's only update I posted yesterday. If you're new to Tarot or need a refresher, I recommend you check that one out since it demonstrates the three card spread, which is the most basic spread used in Tarot readings. It also demonstrates how to look at the spreads from the perspective of the writer, rather than solely a Tarot reader. I'll be posting the next video in a backer's only update after this.

Second Stretch Goal Met!

We are seven days into the campaign and we've already destroyed two stretch goals. Every single one of you is amazing and we are immensely grateful for your support (and no, I don't get tired of saying that). 

First some updates on the $8,000 and $10,000 stretch goal goodies. I have recorded the first video for the spread demonstration and am working on editing that now, so that should go up today or tomorrow. I'll also be recording the next one probably today in order to get it to you asap. 

Now that we've blasted past the $10,000 stretch goal, that means that we can pay for the extended license on all the art we've used to make the decks. As I mentioned earlier, this allows us to print more decks for you all, rather than having to stop due to licensing restrictions. 

We also have some other stretch goals planned that are going to be terribly exciting, so we'll have to see where we're at once we get past the $16,000 and where we're going. 

Now (drumroll) as a special surprise for everyone because we have officially gotten to twice our original goal, here are the first five cards of the Major Arcana for your viewing pleasure.
